In just 12 weeks, our team designed, developed, and built a functional prototype for an automated draft beverage vending machine that dispenses the perfect pour every time with a patented pouring mechanism. Designed for sporting events, music festivals, quick-serve restaurants, and lounge areas, the draft beverage vending machine is a self-contained bar tender that can alleviate lines in high service situations or add beverage service for times bartenders cannot be present. Containing ID verification, facial recognition, payment terminals, and a large touchscreen display, the user interface allows users to verify their age and identity before selecting and paying for their beverage. After payment, the user inserts a glass or cup, which the machine detects to then trigger the patented tilt and pour process to dispense the perfect pour every time.
As lead mechanical engineer, I was responsible for the design and development of the working mechanisms in the prototype, mechanical architecture and component mounting, and prototype fabrication. In the first 12 weeks of the project, we researched and developed the patented beer pouring method, designed and developed the machine architecture, and then built the full functional demo unit for an executive demo and proof of concept. Following our successful demo, the project continued onto a production development track and is still in progress.
